Jeff Murray

In 1990 after serving 20 years in the RAAF, Jeff decided to do a massage course in Newcastle, NSW, Australia, at the Hunter College of Massage. On completion of his Diploma of Remedial and Sports Massage course, Jeff then went on to complete his Level I Sports Trainers course with the then Sports Medicine Federation of Australia.

This was the start in his interest and ongoing studies in sports and remedial massage and associated postgraduate courses. Over the years Jeff studied many courses but the one course that he kept coming back to for more tuition was Onsen muscle therapy. This course was founded and structured by Rich Phaigh, from America. Jeff studied many times under Rich and focused his assessment and treatment protocols off the Onsen principles.

In between 1990 and 1996 Jeff was a manager with a major transport company in the Hunter Valley, during that time he studied transport management at Sydney University, and also quality assurance with Quality Assurance Services Australia. In 1996 Jeff was appointed as a Quality Auditor and an Associate Member with the Quality Society of Australasia. Jeff's interest in quality and precise protocols found him applying the same dedication and standards of quality to his clinic.

In 1996 Jeff left his management role and began to pursue a full time career in Soft Tissue Therapy. Jeff became a consultant with the Hunter Academy of Sport, whilst working with many sporting clubs as a Level II Sports Trainer. In 1998 Jeff was appointed the Director of Sports Massage for the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. At the end of the Games Jeff was appointed as Massage Coordinator with the NSWIS.

In 2002 following the retirement of Rich Phaigh, founder of Onsen therapy, Jeff was appointed as an Onsen Instructor and Examiner by Onsen International in Canada. At present Jeff is the only Onsen therapy Instructor in Australia and the southern hemisphere.

Jeff now has a practice in the Southern Gold Coast area; Tweed Heads, Australia, and whilst busy in his practice and lecturing at TAFE he continues to promote high quality post graduate training courses, while still undertaking further training himself.
